Resolved Question: Is it rude to have a destination wedding?

My fiance and I really want a beach at sunset/dusk wedding. We've both always wanted that and it just suits our personalities. Though he doesn't mind eloping and marrying on a beach just the two of us- I really want at least our closest family/friends there! So, I am looking into Florida (we're in Tennessee, so it's not the other side of the country or anything) Florida would be fairly reasonable compared to the places he wanted to go- Fiji, Hawaii or the Bahama's. However, a close family member has stated that it's a lot to expect people to travel and put up the expense of coming to our destination wedding. I'm perplexed- I thought our closest people would love the idea, and we're telling everyone a year and a half in advance to cushion any financial issue.
